Description

MAXXIS Tire Assegai 29 x 2.50 WT 3C MaxxGrip TR Downhill | E50

The Assegai is the ultimate downhill tire, co-developed by former downhill world champion Greg Minnaar. He incorporated all of his many years of racing experience there. The basic idea behind it was to get the best out of already known Maxxis profiles.
The well-running studs from the Minion DHF and Minion DHR II were implemented in the middle of the tread. This provides excellent rolling on hard surfaces, but also grip on wet roots and stones. The HighRoller's slightly reshaped side knobs take care of fast corners. With these you have a clearly defined limit area and enough reserves at all times. Finally, the Shorty adds its tread height and ensures sufficient traction even on deep forest floors. With this intelligent mix you can really let it rip.

Manufacturer's instructions: Maxxis strongly advises against using sealing milk containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months. Maxxis recommends using Tire Plasma tire sealant.

Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and on wide rims they end up with a shape that is too angular and therefore less than ideal in terms of performance.
WT tires are optimized for an internal rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.

Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tires tube tubes have many advantages: you can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of a breakdown is reduced. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealant than other “Tubeless Ready” tires. The bead of the Maxxis TR tires is completely covered with a layer of rubber, like a real UST tubeless tube . This means that the tube can be installed successfully on all rims with standard dimensions the first time the tube is inflated and with little liquid.

Dual ply casing
Two combined layers of fabric are wrapped around bead cores. This creates an extremely stable and safe carcass, which is particularly necessary for downhill riding. This has four layers on the side walls and even six layers on the treads.

3C MaxxGrip
The well-known 3C downhill compound, which many of the best downhillers have trusted for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. 3C MaxxGrip offers the ultimate grip and the best damping properties through three different rubber compounds for unparalleled traction on downhills. The base layer ensures low rolling resistance and stability of the tread lugs. The compound in the middle of the tread ensures the best grip on any surface, while the extremely damped compound on the shoulder lugs ensures the best possible cornering grip.

E-Bike Ready | E50
Maxxis tires with the e-bike logo meet and exceed the requirements of the ECE-R75 standard and are ideal for use on fast e-bikes.
